WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THE EUROPOLITAN MENTORSHIP PROGRAM?

The program is open to current members of SCBWI who write in English and reside in one of the five Europolitan Regions (Belgium/Luxembourg, France, Germany/Austria, The Netherlands, Switzerland) or are members of the SCBWI International Central Region and reside in Continental Europe and Scandinavia. If you have questions about eligibility, please email us.

WHAT AM I COMMITTING TO IF I AM ACCEPTED INTO THE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM?

You must have a finished manuscript you want to work on. You must be willing to commit to assignments and deadlines. Packet deadlines set by your mentor must be met unless you give your mentor advance notice that you are going to be late.

HOW DOES THE SELECTION PROCESS WORK?

This is a blind selection process. No name or identifying information should appear on the artistic statement and the manuscript that are submitted as part of your application.

HOW DO I APPLY?

The program will be open for applications beginning on May 20, 2019.

Once your application fee has been received you will receive instructions on how to submit your application materials.

MAY I APPLY TO MORE THAN ONE MENTOR?

Due to the blind selection process, applying to one than one mentor is not possible. If you are having trouble deciding between two mentors, read their books to see which voice stands out best to you. Or search for other interviews. Each mentor has their own strengths, so select the one that fits closest to your own body of work.

HOW MUCH DOES THE PROGRAM COST?

The cost for the program is €500, payable within 7 days after notification of acceptance into the program. This covers four face-to-face meetings (via Skype or other web conference platform) over a six-month period with a published writer or illustrator analyzing every aspect of your manuscript or illustration portfolio.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

This program is open to SCBWI members living in continental Europe.

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM?

All applicants will be informed of their application status by August 15, 2019. A listing of the Mentor Class of 2019 will be posted on the Europolitan website.

WHEN IS THE FULL TUITION COST PAYABLE?

Applicants chosen for the Europolitan Mentorship Program must remit the remaining program tuition (minus the 30 EURO application fee) via PayPal to SCBWI Europolitan within one week of acceptance.
